Cars in German City Found Marked with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Officers reported they were alerted by a resident who discovered a automobile in Hanau smeared with red-colored fluid

Approximately 50 cars have been marked with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.

Cars, building surfaces and postal boxes were defaced, sometimes with swastikas, they reported in a statement.

Officers report they were contacted late on Wednesday evening, when a man noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued fluid.

The substance had been applied in the form of a Nazi symbol, they stated.

Law enforcement then located multiple other vandalized automobiles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.

Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.

Officials say initial examinations suggest the fluid was likely human blood.

"There is still no indication as to its origin; authorities are currently not aware of any injuries in relation with the event," they added.

Municipal representatives said they were attempting "to resolve the case" and have asked to the residents for information.

A senior official commented the vandalism made him without words and needed to be resolved promptly.

"This act affects the center of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the right-wing terrorist attack five years ago," he posted on a platform, referring to the death of nine people by a gunman focusing on people of foreign heritage in February 2020.
